You Think Your Farts Do Not Stink

judge You Think Your Farts Do Not Stink

So I was having a boys night out when one of the guys in the group who will remain nameless ripped one…and it smelled bad…I mean awful! However, as we were running for the scented candles, scratch and sniff stickers or anything else we could get our nose into while he was just sitting there laughing saying, “It doesn’t smell that bad. It was only a little one.”

A couple of hours later after I was recovering from the aftermath I realized something, for the most part we don’t think our !*&# stinks. If we fart though the smell may not be pleasant we can tolerate the aroma, however if someone else cuts the proverbial cheese then we are running for cover and screaming insults.

The same is true with personal issues. We can handle the fact that we are overbearing, prideful, insecure, jealous, etc but as soon as someone else comes into our life with those very same character defects then we are wanting to get as far away from them as soon as possible. Instead of helping them to overcome or at least having sympathy on them while they are acting out, we retaliate with gossip and negative words all the while never taking into consideration that our farts stink too (meaning we have those very same issues.)

What You Judge Others for You Do

Jesus is quoted as saying, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the board in your own eye?” In other words the things that we judge others for, we do. So before you throw someone out because of his or her weakness ask yourself and then answer honestly if you possess the same weakness. In most cases the reason why you can so easily identify certain issues is due to the fact that you struggle with the very same issues. It’s almost like when you purchase a car. Before you drive the car off the parking lot you swear that no one else is driving that make, model or color and then lo and behold a few days after you drive the car off the lot, you see everyone and their mother driving your car. Simply put, because you deal with your issues on a daily basis you can easily identify your issues when they show up in other people.

Don’t Judge Unless You Are the Judge

Recognize that you and the person who is getting on your nerves are driving the same car or at least admit that your car also has its share of dents and scratches. Life is so much more joyful when you are not living as the judge…unless you are a judge by profession and you feel that is your purpose, but that is another blog for another time. icon smile You Think Your Farts Do Not Stink
