Become the expert in your industry by giving out free information. In the past mortgage brokers, insurance and real-estate agents have done this by giving out “free” informational seminars on financing, insurance and investing. Once the people have received the valuable information where do you think they are going to buy their services? You might be thinking, “O.k. giving out free information works in those industry’s but how do I apply that to my business?” If you have a non-profit organization and you are looking for donations start a blog or newsletter that describes the principles of giving, and the increased marketability of connecting a business with non-profit groups such as Starbucks and their Red Campaign. If you sell prom and wedding dresses write a blog on celebrity fashions and what dresses are comparable to Vera Wang and Versace.
Now more than ever we are turning into a global economy and individuals are going online to find answers to their questions, not to find companies. Your competition is on every street corner so they do not have any problem finding the products that they need but they do have a problem finding intelligent sales clerks who can answer their questions. When you answer your client’s questions in an intelligent manner then you will have no problem making the sale. Writing to their spoken and unspoken needs and desires will allow you to monopolize your market and will increase the revenue of your business.
