When do athletes lose the race? In the beginning when the runners come out of the blocks all are running well. Neck and neck they all press forward but once the race begins so does the separation. The longer the race, the more time that needs to pass before you can notice the gap to widen. But, the closer the athletes get to the finish line the more visible the gap becomes.

Then when you branch out of acting lessons and begin to read the biographies of famous actors and actresses for inspiration you separate yourself further from the pack. Then when you begin to go to auditions you widen the gap even further. With each step towards your goal you will distance yourself from the dreamers and take one step closer to the doers.

Life, unlike a race, will reward many individuals with the gold medal. There is plenty of room at the top but run your race as though there is only one prize to win. Keep pushing for your goal, whatever that goal may be, and soon the nay sayers and those who wish upon a star will be saying, “I knew her when…”
