What does smoking do to your health? I know that many people have been drilled the almost certain outcome of the effects that smoking will have if it is continued. However, I wanted to reiterate that reaching success in business is useless if you have to sacrifice your health to do so. Personally, I believe that the true definition of success cannot be achieved unless strong health and solid relationships are a part of the equation.
For those of you who are smoking I have seen the struggle that it takes to put down the cigarettes because my dad has smoked since a young age up to present day and I have seen the effects of him trying to quit. And for those of you who love someone who is a smoker, love them where they are but continue to encourage them that they can do better. Not nag…encourage. Individuals around 50 + began smoking the ill effects were not known therefore they unknowingly got caught up in a bad addiction. However, here are some of the known causes to help you in your determination.
Smoking is known to cause:
Increase bad (LDL) cholesterol
Lower good (HDL) cholesterol
Emphysema
Lung and heart disease
Increase rate of heart attacks by six times in women and three times in men
Cancers in the lungs, bladder, stomach, pancreas, esophagus, larynx, mouth, and cervix.
Increase in blood pressure
Increase in the risk of blood clots
I understand the difficulty in quitting an addiction however, there is an old saying that goes you can pay now and play later or play now and pay later. But regardless of what you choose remember that you will have to pay. You can do it and God can help you.
