Chinese philosopher, Lin Yutang said, “The busy man is never wise and the wise man is never busy.” See I like this philosophy…however, if Mr. Yutang was around to see booming America people on the grind would have called him lazy. But, I also believe that Lin Yutang probably wouldn’t frown upon a good days work. But, when a solid days work turns into 80 hours per week, zero family time…an absent prayer life and no leisure…then I think you are getting off track. But, we like to think that the individuals who are working their fingers to the bone (or in my case typing them to the bone) are the ones who are making a difference.

Be Fruitful, Not Busy

God never told his people to be busy…but He did say, “Be fruitful.” There is a BIG difference. Busy people may spend a lot of time at work but that doesn’t mean that they are focusing on the things that are going to make them most productive. Here is a break down of what I mean:

According to a new survey by America Online and Salary.com, the average worker admits to frittering away 2.09 hours per 8-hour workday, not including lunch and scheduled break-time.

So little effort is required to be above average. If you just do the job that your employer gives you to do you will be promoted. If you have a business and you just focus on marketing and treating your customers you will be heads and shoulders above your competition.
