So I just finished reading (literally like ten minutes ago), “The Shack,” written by WM. Paul Young and this New York Times bestseller is by far the best book that I have read all year and probably in the top 3 of all time. In summary, Mac is invited by God to spend a weekend with Him at a shack out in the wilderness. There is much more to the story that makes, “The Shack,” experience a lot more interesting but I do not wish to give the storyline away.
While spending the weekend with God, Mac is able to ask all of those questions that you wish that you could ask God such as, “If you are such a good God then why was I abused as a child?” “If you are always with me then why did you let me lose my job?” “Why did you let my home go into foreclosure?” “Why did that person who was close to me have to die?” Mac confronts God during this weekend experience with all of those questions that you always said, “When I get to heaven God and I are going to have a little chit chat about why…”
In short, “The Shack,” will cause you to fall in love with God for who He is not for fear of the consequences. Oh, and I only cried about once per chapter…I could not help the emotion this book just touched me deeply.
If you have read, “The Shack,” or after you read it leave a comment as I would like to know how the book effected you.

This book made me fall in love with God again…and shed some light into my many “why” questions.
Do you know if the story is true?
Hi Steve,
I read the Shack in November of last year. Since which I have to say the greatest thing that has happened to me is I learned that God loved me, no matter my stuff. I finally got it that He loves me as a real father loves his son. UNCONDITIONALLY!!! I never before really believed that until The Shack. Thank you W. M. Paul Young for your amazing insight into the emotions of God regarding His children no matter who they are or what they do.
I always had a problem with the exclusive mentality in Christianity. It seemed like they shunned everyone who was different than they. So I was hesitant to read this book but I heard such great reviews about The Shack that I decided to go for it anyways. After reading the book I realized that what I have learned from most of the Christians in my life was wrong. I agree with Jmoneymil, only this was my first time falling in love with God. Or should I say the black woman?
