There is no substitute for hard work. Look around your work place and ask yourself who goes above and beyond their job description. Now ask yourself who follows the job description line for line? Now without making excuses ask yourself if you do the job that you were hired to do the way company policy outlines in the manual. (I am not sure that checking personal email, taking personal phone calls and arriving late is in there…ouch.)
That last one is a difficult question but is one that needs to be asked because so much of the time we wonder why we are not getting ahead in our business or why we are getting passed up on the job promotion. Take inventory of your actions and ask yourself if you are working as hard as you could? If the answer is “no because…” then you either need to find a job that you are passionate about working or start a business within your passion.
It takes so little to stand out in the workplace. In fact the only thing you have to do is do what you are told whether management is watching or not and you would not have to worry about being promoted. There is no substitute for hard work within your purpose. When you are working hard within your purpose all of heaven gets behind you to throw in their stamp of approval.
Remember that you earn a living, not make a living. The only people who make a living are the people who work printing money. The rest of us must earn money. And if you want to earn more money you only need to be of service to more people.
The equation is simple. If you want to have more money then you only need to work hard within your purpose to serve more people. More people served equals more money.
