God is a spirit therefore He cannot be touched (certain exceptions i.e. Jesus) however we on a subconscious level are not entirely comfortable with the thought of a God with no boundaries therefore we create guidelines for Him. God is without clear definitive lines and the things He creates do not follow definitive lines. On the other hand man creates objects that are full of lines and boxes. Think about the typical day. We wake up in a box, known as a bed, to a box shaped alarm clock, sitting on top of a box shaped dresser, which is inside a box shaped room, which resides in a box shaped home. After getting ready we leave our boxed in personal life to drive in a boxed in car inside a boxed in lane to go to a boxed in office…. its no wonder why the majority of the people cannot think outside of the box…because they live their life inside of one!
We even box in God’s creation. We capture wild animals and place them in boxed cages for the entertainment of you and I. But, the animals inside the cages seem to lack both energy and life. So we take our boxed in lifestyles and then attempt to serve a God without boundaries by placing Him inside of a box so we can understand Him. How do we do this…we put periods where God places commas. Here are 3 examples that will probably cause some debate:
Thou Shall Not
1. Thou Shall Not Drink? ~ Some churches say that drinking is a sin…
2. Thou Shall Not Gamble? ~ Gambling is a sin, right?
3. Thou Shall Not Masturbate? ~ I am not going to touch that one…(no pun intended)
Am I advocating any of these activities, no. But, I cannot find in the Bible where God said specifically not to do these activities. I can box together scriptures to make you come to a negative conclusion about these issues but I fail to see where God put His eternal “period.” Why did the same God who said, “Thou shall not lie” not say “Thou shall not drink?” God had 66 different books, over a thousand different pages and could have worked through more than 40 different writers over a 2,000 year period to simply say, “Oh, yeah and do not drink.” But, He didn’t. Let’s take the most controversial one…masturbation, which is clearly wrong but what about inside the bedroom between a man and woman? Or what if you got married to a woman and then 3 months later she got in an accident and was paralyzed from the neck down? Then would it be right?
My Way Equals Right Way
These issues are brought to your attention to show you that God does not box you and I in therefore we should not box each other or God inside our expectations of right and wrong. After all God created turtles to breath through their butts and the quack of a duck not to echo. If these animals were human we would say that you are not living your life correctly. If we were the rabbit looking at the turtle we would try to make him move faster and breathe properly. If you and I were a lion looking at a duck we would deem the duck weak because the bass in our roar could shake a building and with one swipe of our paw we could end its life.
Admittedly, living a life outside of the box is not comfortable, popular or easy but I am finding that life is so much more exciting and fulfilling.

Man, this is good! HE is so beyond us it’s amazing. The fact that HE created us in HIS likeness and after HIS image is mind boggling to me. So many of us live afraid because of religion. I’m not talking about a relationship with God, I’m talking about the way man has placed limits on HIM. Religion be cursed, relationship be explored. So many people are not coming into relationship with God because religion has turned them off. I pray that we would come out of the box we have tried to put God in. Thanks for the Blog. Going to tell some friends to come have a look.
Thank you for adding your comment. I am thankful for your support and enjoy hearing your viewpoints. I find certain behaviors interesting like how so many individuals will fit so hard to keep God inside of their belief. My hope is that I can continue to live free and set others free in the process.
