sell hair for money

a32 sell hair for money

Can you sell hair and make money? I was surprised just how much money is in the hair selling business. My first experience going to a hair warehouse was about a year ago and I was amazed. You could purchase everything in their from wigs to eye lashes to virgin hair to finger nails and a long list of other products dealing with hair.

This used to be marketed and sold to the predominately black culture but now extensions and weaves are gaining popularity in the white and Asian cultures. But, just because the trend is gaining popularity does not mean that it will sell. If you are going to sell a product and get into an industry do so with class. Start smaller if money is an issue, but you have got to put together a business plan, which consists of goals, budget outlooks and your demographic if you desire to experience profitability. I know that creating a business plan can be confusing so if you need help leave a comment with your specific question and I will reply with the answer.

Here are 3 keys to keeping a business professional and the customers satisfied:

Begin with the End – Think about your customers first. Who are they? What are their spoken and unspoken desires? A spoken desire is that they need black hair, 18’. An unspoken desire is that they want to feel beautiful and sexy. If you meet this unspoken desire you will never have a problem with having repeat customers. How do you meet the unspoken desire? If lip-gloss makes a woman feel sexy, then when they purchase hair give them lip-gloss. Or do a service that makes them feel beautiful when they come into your store. Starbucks does not sell so much coffee because of their coffee. Starbucks makes people feel wealthy, so people will spend $5 to feel wealthy.

Go Big or Go Home – If you can only go big (meaning quality and service) on one product then begin with one product. If the only thing you begin with in your inventory is a shipment of 12’ virgin brown hair. From there develop your business while always keeping in mind the customers their spoken and unspoken desires.

Organization – We have all been in businesses where we felt their lack of organization or apathy for their customers. Your clients will feel the same if you do not have a plan together. The last store that I was in sold hair to celebrities and when the woman I was with came in, she could not remember the type of weave that she ordered the last time. So the attendant took her name, entered it into the computer that brought up her last order and then she simply gave her what she had ordered 2 months prior. Oh yeah, and if you needed them to weave the hair they had stylists there who would help. Organization makes all the difference.
