positive affirmations to counter suicide

affirmations, positive, suicide, healing

The only way to counter suicide is through prayer and positive affirmations, which is a form of prayer. As I speak to people more and more throughout the nation and across the seas I gain a better understanding about the suicidal thoughts that can come with depression, loss, sadness and hurt. Though I do not wish to diminish the pain that you are experiencing right now I do want to draw your attention to all of the opportunity that your pain can provide. AA meetings, the movie, “The Pursuit of Happiness,” the book, “A Boy Named It,” and Joyce Meyer are all great stories and life changing organizations that developed from devastating setbacks. Joyce Meyer was sexually abused by her father for 15 years, the author of “A Boy Named It,” was stabbed by his mother, made to eat dog food and his own vomit and is considered the second worse child abuse case in the history of California.

All of these people went through devastating losses but the key is that they went through it. Though I cannot tell you the journey will be easy I will say that it will be worth it. But, the only way to begin your journey out of your hurt will be to focus your mind on where you are going to not what you are going through. In short, talk your way into a new positive outlook about life and people. In my decision to change my mindset I sought out for the perfect affirmation that would help me in whatever trial I found myself. My quest ended when I learned and memorized this positive affirmation from the book, “The Master Key System,” written by Charles Haanel. Whenever I begin to feel a little down I say, “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy.” I repeat this affirmation until the feeling of depression lifts off of me. Sometimes the feeling leaves immediately, other times I have to fight through the day but as long as I do not give up the feeling will leave. Here is a breakdown of what the affirmation means to me:

  • Whole – emotionally whole, healed from all the negative words and actions that were taken against me.
  • Perfect – My body is perfect; my eyesight is perfect, my weight is perfect, I am a magnificent creature that was hand made by God.
  • Strong – My bones are strong, I am healthy, and my body is operating as it was designed to operate.
  • Powerful – I am influential, others seek my council and my advice, and I am a leader.
  • Loving – All of my actions derive from a spirit of love; I have no ill will or false motive towards any other individual.
  • Harmonious – I am at peace and I flow with God. I am not uptight and nor do I always have to get my way; I am free from being right all of the time and letting others know when they are wrong.
  • Happy – I am content with where I am in life but I am moving forward towards better things. Regardless of what happens to me I choose to be happy.

Now, keep in mind that when you first start saying this affirmation that the words will feel like a lie. You may not feel like your body is perfect because you are overweight. But I would encourage you to look at your body through a different lens. Think of all of the junk food eaten, the lack of sleep given, while drinking not enough water, smoking cigarettes and constantly exposing it to germs yet your body just will not give up on you, therefore, do not give up on it. Fight to see the positive in your situation by affirming the life that you want, not the lifestyle that you have. When God created the world He spoke it into existence and He gave you the same power to create the world that you want by speaking it into existence. Therefore, choose your affirmation wisely.

Say, “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy,” until your thoughts of suicide, depression, anger and failure subside. You can do it!
