My Mom Makes $200 Per Month on a $10 Investment

Yes, it’s true, my mom makes an additional $200 per month on a $10 investment, well less than $10 actually. How did she do it? Quite accidental. Several months ago she entered into a baking contest at the church that her and my father just started attending so she could get to know some of the people. She really did not think that she would win, however, she cleaned house and won the blue ribbon for her apple pie. The people at church found out what I have known all along, that she can bake the best apple pie this side of the Mississippi. I have been requesting “Carol’s Crazy Caramel Apple Pie,” for years instead of a birthday cake but she still did not believe that it was “award winning.”

Following that contest people began to ask her how much would she charge to make them a apple pie. Pretty soon she had racked up 10 orders at $15 a pop. Next, my aunt knew the owners of a local restaurant about 2 hours away from my small hometown in Ohio so my mom baked her award winning, “Carol’s Crazy Caramel Apple Pie,” and the owners fell in love with it buying four on the spot. So that is an additional $210 that she made in one month, that is $2,520 per year which would be a 10% raise if you were making $25,000 per year.

Here is my point. We all have talents that we don’t think of as extordinary just like in the case with my mother, Carol. However, people are willing to pay for your talents if only you will have the guts to put yourself out there. What talents do you possess that you could sell? Can you clean? Paint? Make a craft? Do you have a dish that everyone craves? What does everyone compliment you on? Turn that talent into a business and create for yourself some additional cashflow and possibly a job replacing income.
