Kanye West Marketing Strategy

(Sorry apparently Kanye is not the only one that’s got things on lock down. These youtube videos are getting locked down left and right!)

Last night on the VMA’s Kanye West made an a*% of himself…yet again. Last night during the VMA’s Kanye stole the mic from Taylor Swift…mid speech mind you, and told her that though she won the best video award, Beyonce had one of the best videos not of this year…but of all time. Tactless.

Money can buy you a lot of things but unfortunately class is not one of them. But, regarding marketing this ridiculous move by Kanye will be good for his sales and overall profit. Here’s why.

Kanye’s break out was so ridiculous that everyone is talking about it…I mean everyone. Kanye is in the news, Kanye is being talked about on the blog sites…including mine and because everyone is thinking about him individuals start to wonder…what songs does he sing? He sings “Love Lockdown.” Oh, and he sings “Heartless” oh, I love that song. Let me download it, let me youtube it, let me request it on the radio…Then what happens is the radio DJ’s across the country start talking about him on the radio, about how his youtube viewings jump up, how his sales are peaking, and of course about how he made an a@* of himself and then naturally because the consumer is demanding him they start playing his music….meanwhile Kayne sits back and collects the residuals.

And there you have the marketing strategy of classless ego. Throw yourself out there; be shameless, offensive and get people to talking and at the end of the day you walk away with more sales, more money and unfortunately more ego. Welcome to America.

In my opinion, some things are worth more than money…what say you?
