As a result of stress, multiple forms of entertainment and the endless amount of tasks that need to be done how do you find the time to manage your time? I am no different than you. I have hobbies like working out, watching movies, hanging out with friends and talking all of those hours on the phone to my girlfriend, long distance friends…my mom and then my mom again.
So how do you fit in all of those things plus work plus personal time, time with God and oh yeah eating into an already hectic schedule? Here are information tips on time management.
The trick is to keep first things first. Steven Covey wrote a great book that is full of solid information of how to mange your day by using this principle. By following this principle I and with the assistance of my Franklin Covey I am able to get more done in my days. In addition I always plan my day the night before. Why? Studies have shown that after you have planned your day in the evening your body is more relaxed when you go to sleep (Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night thinking of something that you forgot to do?) and your subconscious mind goes to work trying to figure out how you are going to accomplish all of those tasks that you have planned.
When you plan your day do so based on your personality. If you are not detailed oriented then don’t try to be because you will never stick with your plan. However, I do suggest that you write down your tasks on a to do list and then reorder the list based on importance of accomplishment. Then try to attempt to accomplish everything on your list.
Make a commitment to make a new to do list every night. Sometimes I still get lazy and try to reuse my to do list from the previous night. Just last night I did that and here it is about 3:30 pm and I am just writing my second blog that should have been done at 2pm! When you get lazy the only person you cheat is yourself. Make the commitment for consistency and then follow through.
