The neat thing about Twitter is that people assume that you are popular if you have a lot of followers. Leveraging this assumption if you could get more followers than people (specifically people like producers, managers, agents, directors and labels) will assume that you have a following therefore they will be more willing to work with you.
So the trick is how in the world do you gain a massive following on Twitter so that you can then leverage that following to open up doors for yourself. In the video above I show you how.
So by following people who will automatically follow you back you will actively gain followers. How do you find people that will automatically follow you back? Easy, you look for people who have an equal number (or close to) of followers as people whom they are following. You can start with me…because I will follow you back.
So after leveraging the said site in the video and you gain 20,000+ followers on Twitter use this as leverage. Bring it up during your interview process with agents, mention it nonchalantly in the audition, or casually say we should connect on Twitter at the meet and greets. You don’t want to brag about your following as that will just put people off but if you can mention your followers in a passive way they will naturally become intrigued.
By letting the people in the business know that you have an active online following that you can use to leverage for greater publicity they will be much more inclined to work with you. I know that I would…wouldn’t you?
Popularity is an illusion and if you create your own illusion using Twitter than you can leverage it to open the door so that you can become famous! Good luck!
