How to Increase your Salary

raise, business, money, salary

While I was exploring the field of financial advising, my mentor told me [concerning the industry of financial services] that in the beginning you are going to do more than you get paid for but if you hang in there long enough then eventually you are going to get paid for more than what you do.

With this thought in mind I want to draw your attention to the fact that no one makes $100,000 per year unless they work in the mint. The only way to get paid $100,000, $50,000 or $1,000,000 per year is to earn it. How do you earn that type of money? By offering a service.

Managers get paid more than employees because they serve more people. If you are a motivational speaker you will get paid more when you speak to more people. If you are a sales person you will get paid more when you sell to more people. [On the darker side of things] Even if you are a bank robber, the more banks you rob the more money you will make because you have served more companies. (Its slightly morbid I know.)

Here is my point in your profession, concentrate on how you can serve more people not how you can increase your salary. When you serve more, you will earn more. Just as the farmer who sows more seed will reap a greater harvest, so you will reap a greater financial harvest by sowing more seeds of service.

As you serve don’t worry about the financial rewards that you are receiving because those rarely show up at first. Focus only on giving value and then you will be rewarded with value. And remember the sound advice of the financial planner: In the beginning you will get paid less for the work that you do but in the end if you do not quit you will get paid more than your efforts.
