The key to getting signed to a fashion agency is finding the agency that wants the look that you have. People make the process a lot more difficult than it really is. Basically, getting into a contract is a 4 step process:
- Find an agency – Go to google, type in the city you live, along with the word agency, model etc.
- Submit information – Usually if you go to there website they have online submission forms.
- Initial meeting – If the agency is interested in your look, they will contact you and request a face-to-face meeting.
- Sign the contract – If you are offered a non-exclusive contract after reviewing sign and then sign as many non-exclusives as you can. But, if offered an exclusive make real sure that they are going to help you get jobs, if not you will locked into a 2 year deal and will basically be jobless.
Oh, and be very cautious if the agency starts asking for a bunch of money upfront. If they are good at getting you jobs, they will make plenty of money via the 20% commission and will not worry so much about the photo/portfolio fees.
