About a year ago I felt like God was leading me into the direction of the Internet in order to pursue my dream of motivational speaking. Therefore, I went out and purchased a camera and began uploading videos on Youtube. My very first video (the above video) was rough. I still laugh and feel slightly embarrassed every time I watch it but you have got to start somewhere. Slowly my youtube viewings began to pick up but I felt like God was leading me to do more so I created a website and began the slow process of learning the Internet marketing business. Since then, to my surprise my traffic has picked up tremendously and what has left me speechless is that people have actually began asking my advice concerning the subject. Truth be told I was not sure if I could help them or not but since they asked I agreed to show them what I had learned so far. As some time progressed and I began seeing their success I thought, “Hey maybe I have stumbled across a couple of principles that might be able to help some other people.”
So for those of you who do not have a blog and want to capitalize on the Internet craze here are some introductory steps to creating your own blog. First thing is first; you have to know what you are going to blog about. Once you narrow down your passion you will need to purchase a domain name that best describes that passion. After the domain name is purchased go to WordPress and create a blog, which will be somewhat generic but we can customize it up later. Remember when blogging the most important thing is content. WordPress will host the site for you but for ranking purposes you will want to host your own site. I use Host Gator
to host this site, which costs less than $10 per month and you get email accounts and all sorts of cool tracking information. You can see who is reading which articles, how long people are staying on your site, where they live, how they found you and at what time they found you. The list goes on but for 10 bucks per month you can’t beat it.
When you begin blogging you are going to position yourself as an expert in your field. And when you are the expert you can charge more for your services because after all who gets paid more the novice or the expert? On top of that you are increasing the awareness of your product and services (i.e. marketing) 24 hours per day, 7 days per week (even when your business is not open) to the world for less than $10 per month! And if you put Google Adwords on your site you will easily earn that money back.
The last benefit is that your competition is not online. We have all heard the saying that there is plenty of room for success in the extra mile and marketing yourself online is no different. I wrote more than 500 posts, in 6 months worth of work without getting one paycheck. But, I was learning and my traffic was steadily growing. The fact is there are billions of websites but the majority of them are not even ranked in Google, let alone getting steady traffic. Very few individuals know how to market their website to capitalize on the free traffic from Google or are willing to put forth the effort to make the traffic a reality. If you are willing to put forth the effort you can corner your market and increase your revenue.
Now that you have the information what are you going to do with it? The choice is yours.
