Fire your Boss

job Fire your Boss

Several months ago after the economy began to tank I had to lay aside my modeling career and get a job. So at first I thought that I would just kind of creep into the working world by getting a part time job waiting tables a couple days a week. However, those couple of shifts turned into a couple of more, which ended up pretty much full-time. As I entered into the traditional work force I was confronted by managers who began telling me what to do and how to do it. After no time at all I realized that I do not work well with others. I was made for being self-employed and I knew that I would never be satisfied working for another man.

After about a month of struggling with my attitude I began to pray about the issue and God spoke to me through Joyce Meyers who basically said, “If you work for God then God will pay you. If you work for a man then a man will pay you.” So I decided to fire my boss and hire God. God is the only employer that you will ever hire. But when you hire Him you must decide to work for Him and obey his rules of employment.

The moment I began to change my focus I came to work not as an employee but as a self-employed individual that just happens to be getting a check from a restaurant. My prospective was completely changed even though my situation did not. I soon realized that God pays a lot more than any other employer that I worked for and was a lot more lenient when I made a mistake. If you ever have worked as a waiter or waitress you will understand what I mean when I say that the hostesses have certain individuals whom they like to seat and our restaurant is no different. The favoritism was so bad that I made $20 in 5 shifts! (I still am not exactly sure how that happened.) But, I continued believing that I was working for God and acted like it on the job.

Then the tides turned. In one 10 hour shift I made $300 and the restaurant was soon so packed with individuals that the hostess had no choice but to seat me and not only that every table in my sections were giving me anywhere from 20% to 30% tips! The managers also called me in when shifts opened up and were very generous in my scheduling. More than the money I have peace of mind. I know that regardless of what happens on the job that I am taken care of. I can have this confidence because I know that as long as I am pleasing God, the ultimate employer, and then my managers will be taken care of.

When you begin working for God He will not leave you in a job that is outside of your purpose. Why? Because God made you for a purpose and when you sign on to His organization then He will put you in the position that you were designed for. After the arena football team failed I was trying this business venture and that not sure what I was doing but just trying to make some money to survive. Not really factoring God into the equation. Then when I decided to work for Him God created the opportunity for me to have this blog. Then He began to increase my readers to such a point where it is beginning to supplement the money that I lost while sending other people who are paying me to help them create and market their websites.

Now, I do not even look at myself as a server in a restaurant or even an employee because that is not what I do, that is what I have to do. I am a motivational speaker that is inspiring thousands of people every month. My blog fulfills me in a way that the arena football team never could because I get to help people everyday of my life while venting about life. Even if my day has went horribly wrong I can go to bed with a smile on my face and a fulfilled heart because I know that in that same disastrous day I have helped hundreds of people.

I am fulfilled…are you?
