Ben and Jerry the entrepreneurs have quite a story. How many of you have an idea that you think, man that could work but never pursue that idea do to lack of education in the area of your interest, because you do not know the right people, or you do not know how to make it BIG in the industry? When I am speaking to organizations it seems as though many people fall into the category of, “If only I had Y, then I would be able to get Z.”
Ben and Jerry view business from a different prospective. First off their only training on ice cream was a $5 coarse on how to make the stuff. (So much for education) They are multimillionaires today because of one product that they focused and creatively marketed with a flavor (pun intended) that is uniquely their own. Now, I want you to think about the local ice-cream shop down the street and ask yourself how inspiring does the prospect of wealth look from that viewpoint.
I say this because sometimes we mystify successful individuals like they have the Midas touch, but really they have a great understanding of their purpose and are passionate about what they are doing. Are you?
Not, only did they think ice cream was cool ☺ but they also enjoyed indulging, as do I. Therefore, they presented their product with entertaining names, I love Chunky Monkey, and their work environment has more perks than the infamous Google. I mean their employees can bring their dogs to work if they want to. Apart from a great product they stand for something. Ice cream has given them a platform to speak: out against nuclear weapons, up for the environment, and about corporate ethics. All of this has stemmed out of ice cream…please look again at your local ice cream shop.
What is your purpose? What is your passion? Do you have a vision for your life? These questions can be confusing and frustrating however they need to be asked. Your small idea could and will impact our world for the better if you have the courage to believe and the faith to act. As Wayne Dyer says, “Do not die with your music still in you.”
