Are you Driven by Desire or Emotion?

I was reading Joyce Meyers book, “The Love Revolution,” the other day and she was talking about the poverty situation throughout the world. I was distraught…why would God allow people to suffer like this. Being an ordained minister (don’t worry I am not going to take an offering) people always ask me this question…why would God fill in the blank.

Why God? Why?

In truth I don’t know why he does what he does. But, while pondering this matter I did have the strangest thought, “Why do you hear about humans starving and not animals?”

Think about the animal kingdom…animals don’t starve to death. Birds will fly every winter from Ohio to Florida in search of food. Salmon swim up stream during certain seasons. Other animals migrate hundreds of miles in search of food during certain times and no one thinks anything about it. Yet, here we are…the human race…starving. But, why?

Why do humans in Third World countries continue to live in a region where there is no food? Why don’t they migrate like the animals? Logic says if there is no food, no water…then you need to move to a place that does.

Why Do Humans Starve While Animals Don’t

Animals are driven by desire. If they are scared…they attack. If they are hungry they find food. If they are tired they sleep. But, what do we do? Often we feel sorry for ourselves. We wonder what people will think if we move. And then, only after everything emotionally checks out do we move.

If your business is starving due to lack of income, change. If you are working at a dead end job where you are not earning enough income, change. If your current marketing strategy is not working, then change.

Steven…is Guilty

As I continued to ponder “why” we are starving was startled to find…that what I was seeing in others…I do! My dream is to be a professional speaker, teaching small business owners how to market Are you Driven by Desire or Emotion? themselves online. Yet, I hate cold calling to get my name out enough to get the engagements. So I sit…wanting food…wanting speaking engagements but refuse to pick up the phone! Stupid right? So I made a decision, picked up the phone and now I have 2 speaking engagements lined up with potentially 2 more on the way.

Easy right? More like uncomfortable…but…I have found my bread and water and I am happy about it! J I hope that you are willing to get uncomfortable enough to get the food that you desire.
