insecurity 5 Ways to Overcome Insecurity

The biggest problem that you will face in life is dealing with your insecurities. First what is insecurity? Webster defines insecurity as meaning “not confident, uncertain.” How do you become confident in an aspect of your life that you lack confidence?  Or to be more specific how do you like you nose that is crooked, enjoy your body that is overweight, talk to the guy or girl who you think is out of your league or feel proud of your professional life that is in the process of failing? Physical and emotional insecurities can be overcome but you have to be willing. And since you are reading this article I know that you are.

  1. Get Help – If you feel vulnerable about an area of your life get help. If you are insecure about your singing voice (which I am) hire a vocal coach or join a choir where you can learn the principles of singing.
  2. Positive Affirmation – Speak positive words about your insecurity. If you do not like your acme say things like my skin is getting clearer everyday and revealing more and more of the beautiful person underneath. If you don’t like your height say something along the lines of, “My height is a gift from God and He made me completely unique and other people are attracted to my uniqueness.
  3. Find New Friends – Find people who will lift you up and not point out your faults. If your friends are not helping you in the area of your insecurity then they are hurting you. Create a positive environment for your growth.
  4. Praise Others – You cannot develop a positive self-esteem in your life when you are putting others down, gossiping behind their back and casting judgment. When you give judgment you will receive judgment, give love and receive love.
  5. Attack your Fear – This is the most important step. A fear can only be overcome by action, which takes courage. Take a risk and act on your fear; you will eventually become comfortable and then confident in the area that was once self rejection.
