5 tips for everyday motivation

motivation, self motivation, goals, empower

How in the world does one stay motivated everyday while living in a world that is not motivating? Being motivated to do something is a choice not a feeling. Many of you are motivated to go to a job that you hate in order to pay your bills and have some money in your pocket. Know that as you are journeying towards a goal or working in your own business that there are going to be many days that you are not going to “feel” like doing a task. The only difference is there will be no boss breathing down your neck to make sure that you hit your deadlines.

With that being said here are 5 tips for staying motivated everyday:

  1. Have a Goal – Write down specifically what you want and why you want to achieve your goal. If you have a big enough “why” then the facts of your situation will not derail you.
  2. Create a Daily To Do List – Does time slip through your fingers? At the end of the day do you think, “Oh, crap I forgot to call Rick? Send an email to Erin. And drop my clothes off at the cleaners?” Creating a plan will help you get more done in less time and will hold you accountable.
  3. Use Emotion to Form a Habit – When something positive happens in light of your dream remember the emotion to keep you motivated when you are feeling discouraged. You have to be a one-person parade celebrating your victories big and small.
  4. Make a Commitment Activity – Tell yourself what you are going to do everyday to help you get one step closer to your goal. Start off small and then gradually add more onto your workload so you do not overwhelm your mind.
  5. Surround yourself with Motivated People – You are your friends. Pick the 5 people whom you hang around with the most and make an average of their income and that will be your income or already is. Executing this exercise can be very exciting or depressing depending on your friends.

Motivation is a choice not a feeling. Choose at the beginning of everyday to spend time pursuing your dreams whether you feel like it or not.
