When you think of advertising your company what do you think of?
Radio. Television. Newspaper. Internet?
Advertising your company can be as simple as saying to the person standing in line behind you, “Hey, I mow lawns. Does your grass grow?” to purchasing a billboard in Times Square, which ranges from $25,000 to $50,000+ per month! Here are some simple adversting strategies that are both effective and overlooked and best of all…these marketing techniques cost less than the Starbucks that you are drinking right now.
- Thank you cards – When was the last time that you purchased a service or product from a company and then received a thank you card in a mail? Nothing will make you stand apart from your competition like a hand written thank you card. Buy a pack of 10 generic thank you cards and send them out to your client after he or she has paid. And put your business card in their for them.
- Email Signatures – Do you have a special service or a product on sale that you are trying to promote? Attach it to the signature of all your emails…you never know who will be interested.
- Text Signatures – At the end of all my text messages you will see, “stevenroddy.com” I can’t tell you how many people have checked out my site online because I have added that. Put your tagline or something else dealing with your company for your text message signature. Free advertising.
- Voicemail Messages – If you cannot answer your office phone when a potential customer is calling they might as well hear about a special that you have. Don’t make the mini-ad long and annoying but get right to the point. When I owned the arena football team I just added, “Season tickets are now on sale, first game begins January 28.” You have their undivided attention…so why not.
- Receipt Advertising – Print a special on the receipt. Customers keep receipts in case they need to return a product. Many smaller business owners do not even have their logo on it! You are really missing a great way to keep your brand in front of your customers and the opportunity to close another sale.
There you have it. Look at your coffee…the Starbucks logo is everywhere on the cup. Everything from voicemail to text message to receipt should carry the logo and culture of your business. You can do this for less than the java that you hold in your hand.
