As I am writing this blog I am sick…my nosing is running and my head throbbing and for that reason I almost did not write anything today but then my thoughts began to wonder why are we willing to sacrifice so much for a boss and a job but when it comes to our dreams we so easily give in? In a couple of hours I will have to go into work (no I have not arrived) and I was wanting to get some more sleep in order to be able to maintain the type of energy that I require for tonight’s activities. But, nothing gives me more energy than the excitement of knowing that I am one step closer to my dream.

In truth I believe that the reason why people give up on their dreams so easily is that they do not believe that they can actually achieve their goal. Because of the inward doubt regarding the future they let so many petty obstacles hold them back. Here are four common excuses that hold ordinary people back from extraordinary accomplishments:

I don’t have the money – This is the number one excuse for people not achieving their dream. Money has never held anyone back, lack of passion has. When you are passionate things like money, people and resources are drawn in your direction. I purchased an arena football team at the age of 23, while working as a server in a restaurant.

I don’t have enough time – My kids take all of my time, I have church on Wednesday nights, my husband doesn’t help me, I work two jobs and the list continues. I figure that if the President of the United States can run the most powerful country in the world in 24 hours then if you put your mind to the task you could carve out some extra time to achieve your goal.

I don’t know how to get started – Edison did know how to make the light bulb either but he did. Henry Ford did not know how to make the Model T but he did. You did not know how to do your job where you are working now at first but you learned. When you know exactly what you want you will attract the resources, money and people that you need in order to achieve your vision.

I don’t have the education – Bill Gates and Michael Dell never finished college and they turned out alright, don’t you think?

When the dream is big enough the facts don’t count. The facts of your situation will melt away in light of the passion of your desire. The first towards that passion is to be able to articulate what you want and secondly to know why you want that thing…eventually you will achieve your goal because you are just to tough to quit.
