I put together 3 short tips to help you make a positive impression on people in conversation. Why? The more I talk to people the more I realize that they do not know how to communicate or to pick up on the social cues that others are obviously (but not to them) giving off. So here we go.
Give advice only when asked – Remember that people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Until they ask for your opinion, listen and be sympathetic. Unsolicited advice has created many quarrels.
Talk about them – People will always and forever be more interested in talking about themselves than they will be about you. If you let someone talk about themselves for 30 minutes they will love you. Its really funny how that works and works great for job interviews.
Say thank you – If someone goes out of there way to give you a gift, open a door or pay you a compliment say thank you and when applicable your gratitude via card as well. The impression you will leave with a small card will be worth its weight in gold. Some BIG doors opportunity have opened up for me in my life because of this method.
